
RIP Hirō Isono
Secret of Mana Illustrator Hirō Isono Passes Away
Artist and painter Hirō Isono, who worked on the Mana series of video games, passed away on May 28 due to heart failure. Isono was born in 1945. A memorial service was held on May 31.
Isono graduated from the Aichi University of Education's fine arts department in 1968, and has worked as an illustrator and painter since the 1970s. He has worked on both picture books and light novels during his career. In 1991, he provided the main visual for Square Enix's Final Fantasy Adventure game. He would continue providing illustrations for the series including Secret of Mana in 1993 and Heroes of Mana in 2007.
