Isch ändlich wieder mal es würklich guets Album worde. De Mani isch zwar nüme am Bass, aber trotzdem händ sie sich ändlich wieder mal Müeh und es ambitionierts Doppelalbum à 70 Minute (und i de Deluxe-Version sogar 100 Minute) anegleit, wo de totali Querbeet-Chrüsimüsi-Psychedelik-Elektropunk isch. Sehr guet! Uf de erschti Idruck chunnts zwar dänn doch nöd a ihri "grosse Drü" ane (Screamadelica, Vanishing Point, XTRMNTR), aber es spielt uf jede Fall i de gliche Liga. Sipr. Ah ja, und er isch Gascht...

Gar kei schlächts Jahr bis jetzt für d'Connaisseur vo de niveauvolle Rockmusig. De Bowie isch zrugg, d'QOTSA bringed es Bowie-mässigs Album und Primal Scream mached nach 13(!) Jahr endlich wieder mal gueti Musig. Was will me da no meh?

Nei, sehrwahrschinlich de da und somit zmindescht verwandt:

Talk about chops. The Seven-Ups was produced and directed by Philip D’Antoni (his only directing credit), who had previously produced The French Connection (1971) and Bullitt (1968). It was based on a story by Sonny Grosso, the real life NYPD detective that Roy Scheider played in The French Connection, and Grosso also served as police technical advisor on the picture. Bill Hickman, fresh off The French Connection and Bullitt, was stunt coordinator. And Don Ellis, who won a Grammy for his French Connection soundtrack, did the music.

It’s easy to believe that The Seven-Ups was an attempt to cash in on the success of The French Connection—they have several striking similarities, most noticeably that Scheider’s character Buddy Manucci is a variation on Buddy Russo—but the picture has its own swagger, its own trembling darkness, and deserves to be remembered as an original venture that builds from The French Connection and isn’t derivative of it.
